The Oppo Find X7 series has become the world’s first smartphones to support 5.5G, also known as 5G-Advanced or 5GA, as announced by China Mobile. This advanced network standard promises speeds 300% faster than regular 5G, with potential downlink speeds of up to 10Gbps and uplink speeds of 1Gbps. Both the Find X7 Ultra and the standard variant are set to embrace this new standard, despite running on different chipsets – the Dimensity 9300 for the standard variant and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the Ultra variant. This move reflects Oppo’s dedication to cutting-edge technology.

While the Find X7 series leads the way, over 20 compatible devices are expected to support 5.5G within a year. China Mobile aims to expand coverage to over 300 cities by the end of the year, starting with key areas like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Moreover, 5G-Advanced is part of 3GPP Release 18, which includes features like “non-terrestrial networks,” potentially involving satellite communication, hinting at exciting future possibilities for Oppo devices.
