Google Confirms Pixel 8a with New Battery Stats Feature: Launch Date Confirm

Google has officially confirmed the impending release of the Pixel 8a, expected to debut around Google I/O in May. The confirmation follows the disappearance of a Pixel feature related to battery statistics after the March update. Initially introduced in Android 14’s QPR1 update, the new battery stats feature, displaying charging cycle counts and battery manufacturing dates, was unexpectedly removed from existing Pixel devices. However, Google clarified that these stats were never intended for existing devices but for future models like the Pixel 8a. This inadvertently confirms the existence of the Pixel 8a and hints at the feature’s inclusion in all future Pixel phones.

Despite speculation surrounding the launch date, the Pixel 8a’s release remains uncertain. Additionally, reports suggest that the Pixel 8a may be priced higher than its predecessors, with European retailers listing starting prices at €570, compared to the Pixel 7a’s €500. The Pixel 8a is anticipated to come in two storage options, 128GB and 256GB, with the latter priced at €630. It will be available in four colors: Obsidian (black), Porcelain (beige), Bay (light blue), and Mint (light green), though color availability may vary by storage variant. Rumored specs include Google’s Tensor G3 SoC, 8GB of RAM, and a redesigned rounder design with two rear cameras arranged in a ‘visor’ style across the back of the phone.
